Caroline Whitmarsh, a 2024 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, has been awarded one of the nation's most competitive academic fellowships. The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi has named Whitmarsh a 2025 Marcus L. Urann Fellow, making her one of only six recipients nationwide to earn the $15,000 award.

Whitmarsh graduated with highest honors, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and completing UT's Plan II Honors program—an interdisciplinary curriculum that blends STEM and the humanities. She also completed a Children & Society certificate through the University's Bridging Disciplines Programs.
The fellowship will support Whitmarsh as she pursues her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
"I am very grateful for Phi Kappa Phi's dedication to supporting students in their academic and research endeavors," Whitmarsh said. "This Fellowship will be pivotal to my ability to fund my doctoral education. Fellowships like the Marcus L. Urann Fellowship are fundamental to mobilizing academic interests into action that can have a wide-reaching, positive impact. Given Phi Kappa Phi's core values, their support of my endeavors is particularly meaningful and encouraging."
