
Liberal Arts Supplemental Instruction Coordinator
Taylor Johnson Karahan coordinates the supplemental instruction program for liberal arts and economics, part of team of graduate and undergraduate student educators focused on helping students achieve their personal and academic goals. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 2016, her master’s degree in 2020, and her doctoral degree in American Studies from UT Austin in 2025. During her time in graduate school, she served as a graduate student instructor for the department of American Studies and at the Sanger Learning Center for four years. She has worked as an educator in K-12 schools in Texas and North Carolina and for the TRiO Upward Bound college-readiness program, helping prepare low-income and first-generation students for higher education.
Dr. T, as her students call her, is a first-generation graduate student from a family of public educators in San Antonio, Texas. Enveloped in educational communities from her very first days and now with more than a decade of experience in higher education, she believes that students deserve access to every possible tool that will aid in their success at the university level. Her student-centered approach helps students cultivate the knowledge and skills they already possess and provides educational resources to support them in all of their endeavors.
