Follow the Research MAP! UT’s Research Mentoring and Assistantship Pathway (Research MAP) is a collection of services to connect undergraduates with research experiences. Students, here’s how to get started:
- Attend an OUR info session. You’ll learn about the benefits of research and strategies for connecting with faculty mentors.
- Can’t make an info session? Need additional guidance? Schedule a one-on-one advising appointment with OUR staff.
- Next, find a faculty member to connect with using Eureka, and begin participating in research.
- Once you have connected with a faculty mentor and are conducting research of your own, apply for funding through the Office of Undergraduate Research.
- Share your findings at research events on the UT campus and beyond!
What other advantages are there to following the Research MAP?
- Work-Study students may be eligible to use their Work-Study support for a research assistantship. OUR staff can help you connect with a paid work-study research position. To learn more, schedule a one-on-one advising appointment and select “Research MAP – Work-Study” from the list of options.
- Undergraduate researchers may be eligible to receive course credit while conducting research. Attend an OUR info session for more information on additional benefits.
Faculty: See our Faculty FAQ for more info on appointing undergraduate research assistants using Work-Study. In many cases, Work-Study can cover up to 70% of student wages, which means that the cost to you, your lab, or your department is greatly reduced.
