Suchi Gururaj

Assistant Vice President for Community Engagement

Suchitra Gururaj, Ph.D., has served as the inaugural assistant vice president for community engagement at The University of Texas at Austin for over a decade. In her role, she is charged with the strategic vision, programming, and assessment around credit-bearing student-, faculty-, and community-facing programming and stewardship. 

Suchi’s teaching and research focus on service-learning outcomes, university-community relationships, and social inclusion policies in higher education. She serves on boards for the Community Advancement Network of Austin, the Commission of Economic and Community Engagement of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, and the Michigan Journal for Community Service Learning, and she represents The Research University Civic Engagement Network (TRUCEN) convening of Campus Compact Suchi holds a B.A. in English from Yale, an A.M. in English from The University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in educational administration from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a team recipient of an Austin NAACP Community Engagement Award and a Fulbright scholar.
