The Transfer Living Learning Community (TLC) is a residential community that brings together students who arrive at UT Austin with valuable college and life experiences. In this program, first-year transfer students build on the strength and resilience from these experiences and come together as a supportive community. Participants will benefit from exposure to a wide range of campus resources, connections with faculty and staff, workshops on self-authorship, and a built-in peer network. The program helps students translate their previous college experiences into academic success on the Forty Acres.
Who can live in the TLC?
The program is available to any first-year transfer student who has earned academic credit at a college or university in the time between high school and enrolling at UT Austin. Students must be in a degree-seeking, undergraduate program at UT Austin. Students in exchange programs who will not earn a degree from UT Austin are not eligible. Students from all majors and schools are encouraged to apply for this residential community. Strong candidates will demonstrate an interest in building academic and social connections with their transfer peers and a desire to become active members of the Longhorn community.
How to apply for the TLC?
The 2024-2025 TLC application is now open!
Interested transfer students must start an application for on-campus housing and select the Transfer LLC option. Please note that selecting an LLC will override other preferences in the housing system. Students must also complete a brief, three-question TLC application with the Transfer-Year Experience program. Application decisions for the TLC will be communicated to students on a rolling basis from late May through early July, so apply early!
