Corequisite Course Options
Corequisite courses provide a unique opportunity for students to fulfill TSI requirements while earning credit toward their degree. These paired courses allow students to complete a required class for their major while participating in a support course with weekly sessions led by a TSI instructor. This structure helps strengthen critical skills and provides personalized assistance.
Benefits of Corequisite Courses
- Earn degree-applicable credit while receiving targeted support.
- Build foundational skills in reading, writing, or math to excel in college-level coursework.
Reading/Writing Corequisite Courses
These courses are designed to help you succeed in reading- or writing-intensive classes. Students enrolled in these corequisites will take:
- Core Class: RHE 306
- Support Course: DEV 000W or DEV 300W
Important: During the semester you are enrolled in these courses, and until your TSI requirements are fulfilled, you may be restricted from registering for courses with a writing flag.
Math Corequisite Courses
These courses provide support for math-intensive classes. Students enrolled in these corequisites will take:
- Core Class: M 302, SDS 301, or SDS 302
- Support Course: DEV 000M or DEV 301M
Important: During the semester you are enrolled in these courses, and until your TSI requirements are fulfilled, you may be restricted from registering for other math or Quantitative Reasoning courses.
TSI Advising During Orientation
If you need to complete TSI requirements, you will meet individually with a TSI Advisor on the first day of Orientation. This session is separate from your college advising appointment, which typically occurs on the second day of Orientation.
What to Expect
- Personalized Developmental Plan: Your TSI Advisor will create a plan tailored to your needs, outlining the courses required to fulfill both your TSI and major requirements.
- Registration for your Developmental Courses: The TSI Office will enroll you in the appropriate TSI courses. You should register for other classes yourself.
- Registering for Other Classes:
- To maintain full-time status (12 credit hours), you’ll also need to enroll in general education and major-related courses.
- Share your developmental plan with your major advisor during your advising session to avoid scheduling conflicts with your TSI courses.
Note: Until you complete your TSI requirements, you may be restricted from registering for certain college-level courses.
