Experiential Learning and Career Readiness

Developing marketable skills through experiential learning is a key element of the ULN program. Experiential learning happens both in and out of the classroom and helps students develop transferable skills and learn how to navigate a professional work environment. Examples of experiential learning opportunities include conducting undergraduate research and participating in an on- or off-campus internship. These opportunities will help students be career ready, with three years of robust experiences at the time of graduation.

To maintain their scholarship, ULN students are required to complete 10 hours of experiential learning per week during the fall and spring semesters of their second, third, and fourth years in the program. Employers who host ULN students are ULN Partners, and ULN’s dedicated Experiential Learning Coordinator works directly with ULN Partners to create meaningful experiential learning opportunities on campus, in Austin, throughout Texas, and around the world.

For ULN Students

During your second, third, and fourth years in the University Leadership Network (ULN), you will participate in experiential learning opportunities during each fall and spring semester. Experiential learning happens when you participate in learning experiences in and out of the classroom that help you develop transferable skills. The most common opportunities come in the form of internships, research assistantships, and study abroad. For more information or questions, please contact the Experiential Learning Coordinator.
