What are Tyler Fellows required to do?

- Tyler Fellows will submit a brief (~1-2 page) status report by Aug. 31, 2025.
- Tyler Fellows will take part in programming for student researchers, including research communication workshops, a reception recognizing research award recipients, and networking events
- In fall 2025, Tyler Fellows will register for research course credit through the Office of Undergraduate Research. As part of the grading basis for the course, students will create:
- A 2-minute video explaining their research project to a general audience
- A research poster
- Tyler Fellows will present these materials at the spring 2026 Texas Student Research Showdown and Longhorn Research Poster Session
- Tyler Fellows will share their work at the Tyler Center-sponsored virtual summit at the end of the fall.
- Tyler Fellows will submit a brief (~1-2 page) final report by Jan. 15, 2026.
Is there other travel funding available?
Please note the Tyler Fellow application is a separate application from the OUR's Undergraduate Research Fellowships, and that the review criteria and use of funds is different between the two award programs. Students are encouraged to apply for both awards, if applicable, and are encouraged to reuse application materials as appropriate.
Students traveling domestically or to present their research at a conference are encouraged to consider applying for an OUR Research Travel Award.
