Stop the Bleed is a nationwide bystander bleeding control training brought to UT three years ago after a tragic and preventable death occurred on UT campus due to hemorrhaging. Since then, the Dell Medical School branch of Stop the Bleed has facilitated the installment of trauma kits in every UT building and has taught nearly 4,000 bystanders key skills such as tourniquet use, direct pressure, and wound packing.
Currently, there is no recertification standard for Stop the Bleed. However, other similar certifications such as The American Heart Association recommends CPR recertification every 2 years. Given the necessity of Stop the Bleed skills, this experiment will aim to evaluate the need of a recertification training.
