The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans seeks to promote immigrant contributions to American society by funding graduate education for promising leaders in a variety of fields. Fellows can receive up to $90,000 for two years of graduate school. Past winners have pursued fields ranging from social work to theater to medicine to entrepreneurship. Many Fellows have pursued joint degrees.
Conditions of Eligibility
New American (immigrant or child of two immigrants) under 30 years old at the time of application (for a full breakdown of criteria, see website)
Beginning graduate program or in the first two years of a graduate program
Application Materials
- Two essays (New American experience; professional goals)
- Transcript
- CV/résumé
- Standardized test scores if relevant
- Recommendation letters (three required, up to five accepted)
- Proof of eligibility
Application Deadline
The national deadline is usually late October or early November. An endorsement (or nomination) from UT Austin is not required, however, we are available to provide advice on your application and interview preparation. Please see site for more information.
